Audrey Clarice Tonder was born in Lockhart, Minn., on Nov. 4, 1923. She was the youngest of three children born to Adolph and Anna (Modin) Tonder. She graduated from Middle River High School in 1941, and in the latter part of the decade found employment with the Minnesota Forestry Service. While there, she met a handsome young game warden and ex-pilot, Lloyd Hoffmann, with whom she shared a great sense of humor, a sunny outlook on life, and, eventually a wedding, on Dec. 28, 1947, in Gatzke, Minn. Together they traveled from Warroad to Phoenix, Ariz., and Olivia, Minn., before Lloyd was stationed in Sauk Centre in 1953.

Euni Dockter
Euni Dockter, 69 of Bismarck, N.D., formerly of Mercer, passed away at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck on Nov. 24. A funeral service was held Nov. 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, N.D., with Pastor Sondra Krogstad officiating.
Eunice Faye was born Oct. 4, 1946, to Oliver and Elnora (Nissen) Kirking in Drayton, N.D. She attended Glasston Elementary School and graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1964. While in school, Euni was very involved in all school activities, especially cheerleading. Following high school she attended the Minneapolis Institute of Medical Technology, graduating as a medical lab technician. She worked at the Grafton Hospital and later at Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
In November of 1965, Euni met Gene Dockter (Doc) in St. Thomas, when she was home for the first basketball game of the season and Doc was a first year English teacher at the school. They were married Aug. 3, 1968, at United Methodist Church in Drayton, N.D. That same year they moved to Sauk Centre, where Doc taught and Euni worked full-time as assistant to the athletic director and part-time supervisor of study halls. She also worked with the dance team and girls gymnastics. While in Sauk Centre, they created some of the best memories and friendships which still hold dear to their hearts.
In 1975, one of the greatest gifts was given to Euni and Doc when their son Jonathan became a member of the family. In 1977, they moved near Mercer, N.D. to farm and ranch. In 1980, their family was blessed once again with the addition of Kimberly. Euni was very involved in the Turtle Lake and Mercer communities. She served as president of the local Jayceette’s chapter and was voted one of 25 outstanding presidents in the United States. She was also a member of the GFWC Study Club in Turtle Lake. Euni helped to start Story Hour at the local library, served on the Trinity Lutheran Church council for four years, volunteered at Turtle Lake-Mercer school, and was always helping with events her children were involved with at church and school. She taught Sunday School, Bible School and Confirmation for many years, even after her children were no longer involved. In 2002, they rented out their farm and Euni kept busy volunteering, especially with the God’s Child Project where she served on the board for several years. With the project, she traveled to Antigua and Guatemala three times where she helped build homes and distribute clothing to people in need.
In 2012, Euni and Doc bought a home in Bismarck where they were welcomed with great and caring new friends. They have enjoyed being closer to their grandchildren and spending many hours pontooning on the Missouri River. Euni had an outstanding personality and left a good impression on everyone she met. Through all of her health problems, she never once complained or felt sorry for herself. Euni took pride in her job as a stay-at-home mother to her children and felt blessed she was able to be there for them during their formative years. She was also integral in the lives of her grandchildren, helping whenever needed- shopping, baking and spending quality time with them at every opportunity.
Euni will be remembered for her smile, friendly demeanor and willingness to help whenever needed.
Euni is survived by her husband of 47 years, Doc, Bismarck; son Jonathan, Chicago; daughter Kimberly (Joey), Bismarck; grandchildren, Kennedy, Kamryn, and Jack (Bismarck); Brothers, Neil (Pat) Kirking, Ariz., Curt (Mary Ellen) Kirking, Cavalier, N.D.; sisters-in-law, JoAnn (Erv) Johnson, Minot, N.D., Jan (Erv) Geigle, Minneapolis, Joyce (Dennis) Fiedler, Mercer, N.D.; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Erin, Chad, Barry, Maria, Julia, Solomon and Andrew; step- grandchildren, Kalan and Nolan.

Leah M. Becker

Leah M. Becker
Leah M. Becker, age 79 of Sauk Centre, passed peacefully from this world to be with our Lord on Dec. 2, 2015. From her birth and until her last breath she nourished people around her with love, faith and music. (And a few tomatoes, squash and raspberries from her abundant gardens.) She was the last of seven children born to Albert and Stella Sauter in Tyler, N.D. on April 19, 1936. Her childhood years were spent in Fairmount, N.D. After marrying Andrew Becker in 1957, the couple lived in Albertville, where their six children were born.
In 1971, the family moved to a dairy farm in Sauk Centre, and they lived in the community until the spring of 2014. They have been living in Burnsville, since 2014, in order to be closer to their children.
In addition to her parents, Leah is preceded in death by her grandson, Casey; siblings, Johnny, Clarence, Joan, Rita and Phyllis. Leah is survived by her loving husband, Andrew; children, Cary (Diane), Bruce (Peg), Joe (Joannie), Nancy (Kevin) Waldbillig, Renee (Mike) Laughery and Allen (Andrea); 24 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her sister, Elaine Imholte. Music was an integral part of Leah’s life. Not only did she enjoy listening to and making music, she offered this talent as a stewardship to so many people throughout her life. She played organ and directed church choirs, played and sang with her husband, Andy, at many gatherings and events around the community and also used music as a therapy while working at St. Michael’s Nursing home in activities. This love of music has also been passed on to her children and grandchildren.
Another important aspect of her life was vegetable and flower gardening. While raising six children with Andy, and even into retirement, having a large vegetable garden and canning was an essential part of her summers.
Leah also became a Master Gardener and her love of flowers grew into many beautiful gardens enjoyed by friends and neighbors when they came to the house. The importance of family could not be stressed enough, if you would ask Leah about her priorities. Not only did she leave many traditions and legacies for her children, she also instilled a sense of love, caring, humor and making music into her many grandchildren. In return, it was easy to see the pride and joy that they brought into her life.
Above all though, was her love of God. That love fostered her servant heart and was the driving force behind the acts of charity she showed her family and church community.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Dec. 7, at All Saints Catholic Church in Lakeville, 19795 Holyoke Ave.; Burial was at Albertville Cemetery. Condolences at: www.whitefuneralhome.com.
Memorials preferred to Options for Woman Pregnancy care Center: 1225 Timberlane Drive #5, Sauk Centre, MN 56378
