Gary A. Gamradt
Gary A. Gamradt, age 63 of Sauk Centre, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at the CentraCare Health Hospital in Sauk Centre.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Marty Porter officiating. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre with full military honors.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Sauk Centre and one hour prior to the service at the church. United Veterans Prayer Service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Gary Arthur Gamradt was born Sept. 10, 1952, in Sauk Centre, to Earl and Alvina (Farrow) Gamradt. He grew up on the farm outside of Sauk Centre with four brothers and an angry rooster. Gary graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1970 and left for basic training on Christmas Day in 1971. Gary married Shari (Nelson) on May 27, 1972, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake. Together they raised their family while Gary was active duty in the military. During that time Gary had the opportunity to work with the family business doing construction. Gary was also an entrepreneur, opening Heartland Gallery in 1993, which he still ran with his wife. Gary retired from the military after 28 years but continued his dedication to his country by working in Veterans service. Gary loved his family and looked for any opportunity to spend time with them. He was a jack of all trades, master of all.
Gary was a very dedicated and involved member of Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 67 and the Sauk Centre Historical Society.
Survivors include his wife, Shari Gamradt; children, Terry (Heidi) Gamradt of Shakopee, Renee (Brian) Nelson of Mapleton and Amber (Justin) Smith of Fargo, N.D.; brothers, Kenny (special friend Gail) of Sauk Centre, Bob (Cele) Gamradt of Sauk Centre, Mark (Karen) Gamradt of Sauk Centre; and his grandchildren, Chase, Hailey and Brynn.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Lief Nelson; infant son, Gene Gamradt; and brother, Albert Gamradt.
Serving as urn bearers will be Terry Gamradt, Renee Nelson and Amber Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
